Press & Media
Providing journalists with background information, current case status, and media contact details related to the case of Muhammad Zahid Chaudhry.
Short Biography
Muhammad Zahid Chaudhry— known as Zahid — is a honorable, decorated, disabled U.S. Army veteran whose earned citizenship has been unlawfully delayed for more than 20 years. Injured during Operation Iraqi Freedom, he has devoted his life to public service, peace advocacy, and nonprofit leadership.
Why This Case Matters?
- Veterans’ Rights: Federal law guarantees expedited naturalization for non-citizen veterans. Zahid has already sworn the oath and sacrificed his health in service to it.
Religious Discrimination: His case reflects documented evidence of systemic targeting of Muslim applicants.
Government Accountability: Senior ICE officials later convicted of crimes were directly involved in his case.
Systemic Impact: Zahid’s experience mirrors that of tens of thousands of lawful applicants trapped in indefinite legal limbo.
This case is not about special treatment. Zahid seeks no more and no less than the citizenship he earned by law and by military service.
